The University of Tennessee apparently (if all the sources aren’t lying to ESPN and other media outlets) hired Derek Dooley as its next head football coach.
Derek Dooley was the coach at Louisiana Tech for two years and finished 17-20 and won the Independence Bowl in 2008. He was also the athletic director at LA Tech before taking over for the Volunteers after Lane Kiffin left after just one season to go back to USC.
Dooley is the son of former Georgia coach Vince Dooley. He is a Virginia graduate and has a law degree from Georgia. He was also on the National Championship winning staff at LSU under former Tigers coach Nick Saban.
Dooley is 41-years-old, which is still relatively young in coaching years.
So, let’s see.
He’s young.
He’s got a losing record as a head coach (at Louisiana Tech, of all places).
He’s also got a famous dad.
Sound familiar?
Great hire, Tennessee. Athletic Director Mike Hamilton might be packing his bags and leaving Knoxville if this coach fails miserably. If you can’t win at LaTech, how are you supposed to win the toughest conference in all of college football?

WHAT! No Way! You cant just assume that Dooley is gonna be bad because of his background!!! So what! Yeah, he lost a La Tech, but he didn’t have any good players. How can you win with bad players, and besides I’d love to see you try to be a head football coach!!!!!!
